Our Developments : Natural Dyes for Textile ApplicationTill 1856, only no chemical dye was available In the World. All dyeing , printing, paintings were carried out with natural dyes. It was only in 1956 when Mr. Perkins from Germany invented first chemical dye as Anthraquinon. The dye was made by matching the structure of natural dyes `Madder’ which is also known as Manjsitha. Since then chemical dye were invented from time to time and they took over the entire natural dyes industry only a few pockets at artisan levels were left. The reason for this erase of natural dyes was:
- Seasonal dependency of natural dyes / availability throughout the year
- As only grinded form of natural dyes were used, huge quantities of natural dyes were required to dye textile. Some time you had to use 150% natural dyes of the weight of textile. This process was not possible with organized textile dyeing
- Long process of application, which require 2-3 days to get a particular shade
- Standardization of natural dyes, which us to be a big problem for repeatability of shades
- Fastness properties of natural dyes
- We took all these a big challenge to us and worked on more than 500 colour giving plants ( and are still working on ) to short list the right raw material which can be used in industrial application without any problem
Now we are able to offer:
- Standardized extract form of natural dyes throughout the year without any problem
- Small percentage of natural dyes are required to get desired shades which make dyes useable even on most modern dyeing machines including rope dyeing for denim, soft flow for knits, jigger for fabric, etc
- We have reduced process time of 2-3 days to 3-4 hours making dyeing much easier and economical for large dye houses.
- Without innovative process of dyeing, fastness has also increased to acceptable level of dyeing
- We have developed expertise of modifying the process of dyeing as per the requirement of dye house and giving them successful trail at their facilities

Certification - Our natural dyes are certified on Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS Version-II) by Control Union of Netherlands. We are even ready for GOTS Version-III

International Collaborations & NetworkWe entered in natural dyes at a time when Azo dyes were just banned by Germans for the first time in 1995. That time it was said that there are more than 800 chemicals that comes in contact with a textile from the stage of cotton cultivation till it reaches to end user. Out of those 800, only 200 were thoroughly studied and 20 of them were banned as Azo amines in 1995. But the research studies on remaining 600 chemicals were in progress.
“Knowing these, we fore sighted that the dyes that are called safe today as they free from 20 banned amine, may well be under banned category as studies goes no? But if we go for natural dyes the chance of finding such ban was minimum. We were not wrong, Many of the dyes that were called safe in 1995, came under the ban by different certifications called `sustainable textile’, `Global organic textile standards (GOTS)” GOTS version-II and now GOTS-Version-III” But the natural dyes were safe, are safe and shall remain so |
